豉油 (老) 1/2 cup
豉油 (生) 1/2 cup
米酒 1/4 cup
幹 orange peel One piece
八角 三個
五香 一點
黃冰糖 一塊
桂枝 一塊
  • 1Here is what you need.
  • 2Cinnamon, star anise, dried orange peel
  • 3
  • 4Heat spices in a hot pan for two minutes to bring out natural oils
  • 5Add everything to a large pot of water. Bring to a boil
  • 6Here is the sugar. Add to the water.
  • 7Cook for 25 mins over low heat. When done, leave inside for 30 mins. Let rest before cutting.
  • 8Enjoy over noodles or rice and some green onions.

One popular dipping sauce is grated ginger with oil and green onions. Actual color of chicken here is a bit dark. I added too much 老豉油。
