  • beat the sugar and eggs together with a whisk until they become lighter in color

  • melt and slightly cool the butter. gradually add butter, beating to incorporate

  • add the flour and salt all at once and whisk until the batter is a homogeneous mixture

  • slowly pour in the milk a little at a time

  • add brandy/rum, mix well. the batter should be very smooth and shiny

  • grease and place berries in the baking dish. pour the batter over the fruit

  • bake at 205C for 25 minutes, until slightly browned and almost completely set in the middle. optional to dust with powdered sugar
