beat the sugar and eggs together with a whisk until they become lighter in color

melt and slightly cool the butter. gradually add butter, beating to incorporate

add the flour and salt all at once and whisk until the batter is a homogeneous mixture

slowly pour in the milk a little at a time

add brandy/rum, mix well. the batter should be very smooth and shiny

grease and place berries in the baking dish. pour the batter over the fruit

bake at 205C for 25 minutes, until slightly browned and almost completely set in the middle. optional to dust with powdered sugar
